Abstract
Although schizophrenia and dissociative disorders are considered distinct diagnostic categories with distinct treatments they are historically related and have overlapping symptoms. We try to explain this overlap by examining underlying psychosocial, cognitive and neural processes. Through this we hope to increase understanding of these diagnoses, their differential diagnosis and treatment. This study focuses specifically on the psychosocial processes.
